"Baked is a locally owned bakery that has been on my radar for a couple months. Today, I made the 15 mile drive to Kirklin to try the fresh made scones for breakfast.
We were greeted by Tim Dines, owner and baker. Tim told us that all the bread is sour dough. A fresh batch of assorted cookies also included a gluten free option. Today's scones were lemon blueberry and maple pecan. We purchased one of both and a loaf of Honey Oat Whole Wheat bread.
There is no room for in store dining, and we couldn't wait, so we ate our scones outside. The scones are large with a fluffy inside. The lemon blueberry scone was a perfect blend of savory with a bit of sweetness from the blueberries. The maple pecan scone filled the car with the aroma of maple syrup. The scone was delicious. I'm craving another one as I write this.
We had the bread when we got home. The crust was nice and chewy with a soft inside. It was the best whole wheat bread that I've had in a while.
Tim also sells local honey and preserves. The shop is cute with a small town feel.
There is free street parking in front of the shop.
Baked has a Facebook page that tells customers what flavors are available for the day. I recommend checking the page before making the drive."
